SPAIN
Its been a busy April and May and already our annual trip to Spain is here.
Spain is one of our favourite places; every year we go back and we find new and amazing things to do, see and eat but we still have our favourites that we love. We go to Isla Canela, which is a small island just off of the south of Spain, across the Portuguese border. Our Spanish is okay, its on my bucket list to learn it fluently, but we can survive and try to have some form of conversation. I love how Spanish sounds, it such a beautiful language and I do my best when we are there to speak it as much as I can.
Talking of our favourites...
La Puerta Ancha is a must go whenever you visit Ayamonte, it is superb; they have a new menu but still have kept their signature dish (Steak on the Stone) and their gin menu is fabulous (Puerto de Indias Strawberry Gin is soooooo tasty). This year I also tried the Sea Bass and a new addition to the menu the Tropplie (I think that's how its spelt)- it was the best pasta I've ever eaten.
As Isla Canela is an island, as I've said, there is so much fresh seafood and the tuna and prawns were amazing. I pigged out in the first week but laid off the carbs on week two so that I didn't come home a baby elephant! So yes basically we spent the whole holiday eating, drinking and swimming as we usually do and it was lovely.

The heat was incredible this year, hitting 38 degrees some days! Factor 50 is a must and Mark and I both take really good care of our skin so for the past few years as we have edged towards the big 3-0, we have only used Factor 50 and its the most tanned we'd ever been.
As usual we had a great time but I am really looking forward to traveling a bit more over the next few years and going on different adventures to new places.
