Continuing with my Spring Skincare for Summer Series is IPL Hair Removal because who likes stubble on your legs at the beach.
In this v/blog, I'm reviewing an IPL hair removal device; the 'SmoothSkin Bare'. Now, this isn't a sponsored blog post, I actually won my SmoothSkin IPL machine (or my 'zapper' as I like to call it) in SmoothSkin's Valentine's Day 2018 giveaway competition and I was absolutely delighted. I had wanted a device for AGES because let's face it, shaving all the time is a chore and a bore.
SO WHAT IS IT?
According to their website 'IPL stands for 'Intense Pulsed Light' and it is designed to help break the cycle of hair growth by targeting the hair root or follicle. Light energy is transferred through the skin’s surface and is absorbed by the melanin present in the hair shaft. The absorbed light energy is converted to heat energy (below the surface of the skin), which disables the hair follicle preventing further growth. Treated hairs naturally fall out over the course of a few days to 1-2 weeks.'
DOES IT ACTUALLY WORK?
Yes I can 100% attest to this amazing product- here are some of the top features of the Smooth Skin Bare:

'Both laser and intense pulsed light (that’s IPL to you and me!) use light to heat the hair follicle and prevent regrowth. However, the technology used to deliver the light is really quite different – with the key difference being the kind of light itself. In short, lasers produce a very specific type of light consisting of one wavelength or colour of light all going in one direction, which creates a single beam like a laser pointer. IPL devices produce a wide range of wavelengths of light to produce a single white flash. This light is closer to natural light and can appear with an orange/red glow when the device is flashed against the skin, like a camera flash'.
COST?
Currently the Smoothskin Bare is £179 but it is such an investment and so worth it. with the standard Hollywood bikini wax costing £30.

It doesn't work on all skin types - check if its suitably for your skin type here.

MY OPINION
I LOVE it!!! It really works, as I say in my vlog consistency is key with this product but it is worth the price tag for smooth skin for longer.
